A girl cried as her friends removed a cockroach that burrowed into her ear during a slumber party.

Janine Uy, 18, was having a sleepover with classmates to study for exams week when the cheeky insect found its way to their bedroom in Bohol province, the Philippines on April 12.

She dozed off and woke up horrified as she felt the creature scratching inside her head and called the other girls for help.

Footage shows the roach's tail poking out of the youngster's right ear as her friends picked it out with a tweezer.

Her friend Kathlene Mae Eguia said: ‘We woke up to Janine shouting. We were all so worried for her.'

The girls first tried to remove the cockroach using a cotton swab but without success. They then thought of using tweezers to extract the insect.

One of the girls massaged her ear in a bid to force the creature out but the roach burrowed itself even deeper. Using the tweezer, little parts of the roach were pulled out. First, a leg, then its wings, until finally, its entire body was pulled out.

The girls shrieked as the cockroach was still alive and crawled across the bedroom.

Kathlene said: ‘That cockroach gave us a hard time. Our friend was so traumatised and we all couldn't sleep that night.'

A furious friend caught the cockroach using the tweezers and threw the insect out of the house.

Kathlene added Janine said she was fine and did not feel anything hurting after the incident.

She said: ‘It was so scary. I didn't know that these things could happen.'
