A stray cat with four ears was adopted by a family who consider it their own 'lucky charm' in Thailand.

The female gray striped moggie was originally a hostile stray roaming the streets when she was found a year ago by Sasithon Ozawa, 25, in her neighbourhood in Trang province.

Sasithon said she and her mum took pity on the emaciated feline, and would often leave out food for it.

At first, the stray would gobble up her meal and run away immediately, but before long, it grew comfortable enough around the kind strangers.

It took around six months before the cat, which Sasithon has since adopted and named 'Chao Si Hoo' meaning 'four ears', allowed any form of human contact.

Footage shows Chao Si Hoo with her two extra tiny flaps protruding behind its larger ears. The once-aloof stray is now a certified cuddlebug, clearly enjoying being petted by its owners.

Sasithon said: 'Chao Si Hoo does not like to be scolded. When we tell her off, she will run away for two to three days before coming back. Sometimes she will disappear for a week whenever we go on trips.'

She added that their new pet liked being praised, and spends her days lazing around their house.

She said: 'Chao Si Hoo is now much healthier, but she is still wary of strangers. Her favourite meal is mackerel and rice. We plan to keep her for a long time because we believe her four ears will bring us good luck.'
