This video, filmed in London's Cricklewood Broadway on April 8, shows a young black male being stopped, searched, and arrested by two undercover police officers.

The search revealed that the young boy was concealing an offensive weapon.

Mohamed Berki, the filmer, was going to a shop on Cricklewood Broadway when suddenly, an under-covered police car stopped near him and ran towards two boys, one of them being the person who was arrested.

The arrest occurred due to the carrying of an offensive weapon perceived to be a machete knife, concealed in their tracksuit trousers.

According to Mohamed, the boy in the blue tracksuit tried to run, but with no success. The young boys' friend tried to prevent Mohamed from recording the situation, and they can be heard arguing about this in the video.

"Can you not record? That's my boy; you can't record him", Mohamed replies. "I don't give a f*** whos you, boy. I am filming."

This video highlights the current knife crime "epidemic" in London and the continuous debate of the controversial powers to search for drugs and weapons on Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people, as ethnic minorities are far more likely to be stopped and searched. HM Inspectorate of Police said police forces are still unable to explain this "disproportionate" use.

The figures show that knife killings are at the highest since 1946, with the most significant rise among teen boys, of 16 and 17

282 homicides in the year ending March 2022 were committed using a knife - the highest annual total on record.

Regarding the knife crime rate, London ranked fourth in England and Wales, with 128 offences per 100,000 population.

The City of London was in second place (155), then London and Greater Manchester in fifth (121).
