As Eid celebrations come to an end, a fleet of "cruise ships" have been spotted sailing down the Batang Mahek River in the Limapuluhkota regency of West Sumatra, Indonesia.

This five-day tradition known as "Bakajang" has been passed down from generation to generation and is a symbol of respect for Muslim wedding officials.

After Eid, starting Wednesday (26/4/2023), a number of “cruise ships” are seen sailing the Batang Mahek River, Limapuluhkota regency, West Sumatra. Known as Bakajang tradition, the five-day event signifies a friendship that has been passed down from generation to generation by the five jorongs (hamlet) in Nagari Gunuang Malintang, West Sumatra.

The tradition is a symbol of respect from nephews and nieces to penghulu (Muslim wedding officiant) and bundo kanduang.
