A hidden treasure located in Croydon, a town in South London, is reopening to visitors for the first time in three years.

Shirley Windmill, a 170-year-old building, was built in 1854. Owned by Croydon Council and ceased working in about 1890. Its original machinery has recently been restored and can be visited today.

The windmill had been closed since the beginning of the pandemic.

Seven new tours have been organised by volunteers belonging to the group Friends of Shirley Windmill. Tourists and Londoners will be able to visit it from May 14.
