Sharp-nosed 'rat exterminator' dog hunts down rodents in owner's store
This sharp-nosed dog works as a 'rat exterminator' as it hunts down rodents in its owner's store.
The black-and-white pooch named Pandy, 4, is employed at a flower shop in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, chasing down and killing unwanted pests in the building.
Footage shows Pandy with its ears pricked up, tracking down a fugitive mouse that had wandered among the store's breakable vases.
Upon seeing the rodent jump down from a shelf, the hound gave chase and used its keen sense of smell to pinpoint the intruder's location. After diving into boxes of flowers and tearing through the shop, Pandy successfully emerged from the mess with the dead mouse in its jaws.
Staff member Orasa Sittikul, 39, said Pandy was a stray dog abandoned in front of the store four years ago. The owner took pity and adopted it as it had become weak and skeletal from neglect.
Six months after finding a new home, Pandy displayed its heightened hunting instincts, not relenting until it has killed several mice scurrying inside the shop.
Orasa said: 'Pandy is also very curious and would try to climb on the fence to quietly peek when he hears noises of people or other dogs nearby.
'He enjoys eating instant noodles and even begs his owner for chicken whenever we have it. Although Pandy sometimes causes damage to items in the shop, the owner still loves him. The boss always tells us, 'I adopted a dog, but he turned out to be more like a cat.'
