Massive tiger shark takes GoPro for a swim after grabbing it in jaws
A massive tiger shark took a GoPro for a swim after it grabbed on to bait wrapped around the camera.
Rod Shackleton was free diving off Penguin Island, Australia, when he laid some bait in a snapper frame hoping to catch some crabs.
Incredible footage captured the moment a slightly larger animal took hold instead, when a four-metre-long tiger shark bit down on the fish.
After chomping down on the food, the shark then kept the handle in its jaws and took the GoPro for a swim through the shallows.
Rod said: “It was exhilarating. I was really excited but not overly shocked as I often see sharks swimming around there when I go crayfishing.
“Saying that it was rather large and not far from where I was free diving and tigers have a reputation for eating anything and everything.
“I was free diving further around and had just left that bait down hoping to attract some crabs so I could go back and catch them.
“When I got the camera back it had been moved 20metres from where I left it. The shark picked up my bait weight which is 5kg and dragged it up effortlessly towards the surface before dropping it.
“I’m really interested to see all the different things that may be in the ocean and not just what I can catch and eat. I’ve been filming nature and my adventures for at least the last 20 years.”
