Chinese giant panda Ya Ya returned to the embrace of its motherland after 20 years on April 27 at 4:23 pm Beijing time.

Many citizens of Shanghai spontaneously went to Shanghai Pudong Airport to greet Ya Ya's arrival.

Some fans who saw the flight that brought Ya Ya back home at the airport cried with excitement.

Ms. Feng, a citizen of Shanghai, said that she had been following Ya Ya’s situation for more than two months. She was relieved to see it return safely to China.

"I used to only know that giant pandas are our national treasure, but after learning more about them, I realized that they are not only endangered animals but also have high intelligence," she added.
