Moscow claimed Belarusian forces trained in Russia to use nuclear-capable missile systems
Moscow has claimed that Belarusian forces have been training in Russia to use nuclear-capable Iskander-M short-range mobile ballistic missile systems for over a year.
The footage begins by showing a convoy of Iskander-M vehicles on a road before soldiers wearing Belarusian insignia are seen operating one of the machines.
The vehicle can then be seen deploying its payload, with a large missile emerging from inside it and pointing towards the sky.
The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday, April 26, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of the Iskander-M OTRK of the Armed Forces of Belarus were trained in Russia.'
The Russian MoD added: 'Since 3rd April 2022, crews of the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems (OTRK) of the armed forces of Belarus have been trained at one of the training grounds of the Southern Military District.
'In the classroom, the servicemen worked out the preparation of the missile system for use, its deployment and launches. The personnel of the crews studied in detail the conditions for the storage and use of special ammunition for the OTRK.
'During the training, the Belarusian military personnel showed maximum efforts and showed excellent results, thereby confirming their high level of training."
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
