A massive landslide crashed down on a 270-km highway in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on April 27 injuring two people and leaving over 300 vehicles stranded. The incident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, Banihal town.

The footage captured the dramatic moment people shout as a mass of earth and rock collapses before their eyes. Two men urge a truck passing by to drive as fast as possible to avoid the landslide. It has been reported that the driver and the passenger, Jaswant Raj and Narinder Singh, were both rescued.

The highway was shut temporarily to allow rescue operations and safety inspections to take place. It was later reopened.

This is reported to have happened in Banihal town in the Ratanbas area of Ramban district on April 27.

Visuals captured the chilling moment when the landslide took place. A truck was passing by when the land started sliding and in seconds, the portion of the road caved in with the debris. People nearby were seen shouting for the truck and other vehicles to pass by fast as the land slided off.

Panic expectedly ensued in the area and several vehicles were feared to be trapped. The rescue operation to save the ones trapped was also seen in process. The victims of this accident were shown to be in the hospital.

According to a report, the highway is shut down for vehicular traffic and a rescue operation has been launched by the Jammu and Kashmir traffic police to save those who have been trapped under the debris. Two people were reportedly present in the truck that came under the landslide and it was reported that both were rescued. They were the driver and helper of the truck and have been identified as Jaswant Raj and Narinder Singh, hailing from northern India's Punjab. It was also learnt that the highway was reopened later on.
