Farmers in India are incurring losses with the prices of tomatoes falling gradually to Rs 50 for a box of 15 kg. Disappointed by this, farmers dumped one tonne of tomatoes on the road.

Since no buyer came to purchase the tomatoes, the procurement price went down drastically.

Upset with the prices and the middlemen profits the farmers dumped their tomatoes on the roads.

On speaking to Newsflare, the farmers Chiranjeevi and Jeeva said "We borrowed water from the neighbouring field farmer and we raised our plants. But since we didn't get proper prices we just dumped our tomatoes on the road so that cattle at least can feed on them "

India is the second-largest producer of tomatoes in the world, according to reports. Tamil Nadu is one of the major tomato-producing states.
