Footage filmed on April 29 shows how nearly 200 tons of garbage has piled on the coast of Padang, Indonesia.

The government has deployed a unit to clean up the trash.

the government of the city of padang lowered one heavy equipment and deployed 8 cars to transport garbage to clean up the pile of garbage that covered the tourist icon of the city of Padang, namely Padang city beach, Saturday (29 April 2023).

The Head of the Padang City Public Works Service, Syamsu Rinal said "from morning to evening, it is estimated that what was successfully removed from the sea weighed more than 200 tons,".

Syamsu Rinal added, "Most of the garbage piled up is plastic, wood, drink bottles, and used young coconuts from traders, but most of this garbage is the garbage from residents' homes which is thrown into the river which empties into the sea, and when the sea is high, the garbage is push it to the shore making a pile like a mountain,".

To maintain the Padang city tourism icon, the Padang city government must clean up the beach quickly, bearing in mind that from statistics the city of Padang is predicted to be visited by as many as 3-4 thousand tourists during the Eid al-Fitr holiday this year until May 2, 2023.
