Operation Kaveri: 229 more people evacuated from violence-hit Sudan, return to southern India

A total of 229 more Indians were rescued and evacuated from violence-hit Sudan as the fresh batch of nationals returned to the country, in southern India's Karnataka.

This happened in Bengaluru on April 30.

A day ago, northern India's Delhi saw a batch of 365 evacuees make their way back to the country. A total of 29 people were quarantined from the latest batch of people who returned to the country. Out of the 229 who were rescued, 125 hailed from the state of Karnataka in southern India, as per Manoj Rajan, Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority Commissioner. As of now, a total of 1954 Indians have been brought back home from Sudan, according to official data.

India have been evacuating its citizens from war-torn country with them being taken to Port Sudan. It is from here that they are taken to Jeddah from where IAF aircrafts or commercial flights are bringing them home.
