A curious resident watched the rare hybrid solar eclipse behind broken glass.

Footage shows the partially-obscured sun being viewed on the improvised material in Leyte, the Philippines on April 20.

Romeo Betonio, who witnessed the event with his family, said: ‘This doesn't happen every day so I made sure to spend some time with my kids and wife to watch it.'

The hybrid solar eclipse is a rare type of solar eclipse that shifts from annular to total and back as moon's shadow moves across Earth.
