Rescuers scramble to save trapped people under collapsed building in western India

A total of 10 people were rescued by the officials after a building in western India's Maharashtra collapsed.

This happened in Bhiwandi, Thane district on April 30.

Visuals showed the collapsed remains of the building with people wandering around it. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials were seen at work as they took one body out of the rubble. They carried it away and took it to an ambulance, which was also present at the spot to tend to the victims.

According to a report, police along with the fire brigade, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached the spot. "The ground-plus-two-storey Wardhaman building in Valpada neighborhood. The building collapsed at around 1.45 pm. Four families resided on the upper floors, while laborers worked on the ground floor," Avinash Sawant, the regional disaster management cell chief said. As per the latest reports, 10 people have been rescued by the NDRF. The number of deaths has been confirmed to be eight.
