The daughter of former Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has given birth - just two weeks before standing in a general election she is being tipped to win.

First-time-mum Paetongtarn Shinawatra, 36, had a healthy baby boy at the Phra Ram 9 hospital (seen in the video) in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 1.

The politician from the country's Pheu Thai party is the frontrunner in a national poll being held on May 14. She vowed to return to the campaign trail within a few days.

Paetongtarn's father Thaksin was Prime Minister before being ousted from power by a military coup in 2006 and now lives in exile in Dubai amid criminal corruption convictions in his homeland.

The businessman - who is desperate to return to the former Siamese Kingdom - bought Manchester City Football Club in 2007 for 81.6 million GBP before selling to Middle Eastern investors for an estimated 200 million GBP a year later.
