In the aftermath of a devastating fire that destroyed 23 houses in the Krutinsky and Bolsherechensky districts of the Omsk region, the acting governor, Vitaly Khotsenko, visited the affected villages on Friday, April 28. But it was the unexpected driver of his ride that stole the show.

Accompanied by a local resident, Nadezhda Arkhipovna Kuchumova, also known as the "Omsk Granny," the governor was driven in a self-made motor vehicle – a UAZ cabriolet without a roof. The footage of the unlikely duo driving against the backdrop of the burned-out village quickly went viral, attracting attention from all corners of the country.

The 80-year-old Kuchumova, wearing a purple headscarf, captured the hearts of many with her kind and unassuming nature. The car, which is a rare sight in the area, is the result of Kuchumova's ingenuity and resourcefulness. She uses it to travel to nearby villages and the forest to collect berries.

Despite the devastation around her, Kuchumova remained positive and gracious, offering to give anyone in need a ride. Her relatives were proud of her unexpected moment in the spotlight, jokingly referring to her motor vehicle as a "home-made limousine."
