North Palm Beach hit by destructive tornado for second consecutive day causing widespread damage and power outages
Florida was hit by severe weather for the second consecutive day on Sunday, 30th of April, 2023 as a destructive tornado spun through residential areas of North Palm Beach. The tornado caused widespread damage, flipping cars, snapping trees, and knocking out power for thousands of residents.
On Saturday evening, a tornado swept through the city of Palm Beach Gardens, causing significant damage. The Palm Beach Gardens city government reported that there was “roof, structural, and vehicle damage throughout the city,” and residents reported that the wind was strong enough to blow the roof off one apartment building and blast away at least one apartment door. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The storm also caused chaos in the nearby neighborhood of Sanctuary Cove in North Palm Beach, where branches flew dangerously in the wind, trees collapsed on vehicles, and windows of homes and cars were shattered. A large construction vehicle was also damaged, and a park bench was blown away.
Residents in the affected areas praised the quick response of first responders, who arrived on the scene promptly to help those in need. However, the experience was far from pleasant for those who were caught up in the storm.
One resident, @CannaMindSee420, who witnessed the tornado, said: "Not the most pleasant experience! Location Pleasant Dr. & US1 Facing East!" Their statement serves as a testament to the severity of the weather event and the impact it had on the local community.
