Two young siblings tragically died in a house fire in Tel Sheva, a Bedouin settlement in Israel's Negev desert, on Sunday, April 30, despite rescue efforts to save them.

Sultan Abu Anza, 4, and his sister, Hur Abu Anza, 2, were taken to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva, but both were declared dead upon arrival.

The fire broke out while the children were alone in the home, and their father was outside at the time. Although family members tried to rescue the children, both had already inhaled a lethal amount of smoke and suffered severe burns.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown, and the house is set to be demolished as it was constructed without a permit and is considered a hazard.
