A police officer who had just pulled over a motorist had to leap for his life to avoid an oncoming car speeding at 120mph in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Dashcam footage shows the officer making a traffic stop on Fairfax County Parkway near Braddock Road on May 1.

A BMW is seen skidding across the highway and slamming into the stationary vehicles.

The BMW driver and his passengers suffered minor injuries, and the officer and the other driver required hospital treatment.
