Eco-activists from the Ocean Rebellion marine conservation activist group staged a theatrical death metal rock concert outside a deep sea mining conference at the Marriott Hotel in Canary Wharf, London on May 3, 2023. The group organized the concert to draw attention to the harms of deep-sea mining and call for an end to the practice.

During the concert, Dutch death metal band the Polymetallic Nodules were joined by conference delegates, "fans" and passersby in a "shout along" to spell out the harms of deep-sea mining. "Fans" wearing "Nodule" merchandise displayed a banner reading "STOP DEEP SEA MINING NOW!" while a crowd of Ocean Rebellion "deep sea miners" donned blue boiler suits and white helmets.

Three Ocean Rebellion activists, Stefanie Wels, Clive Russell, and Andrew Darnton, gave interviews during the event. Wels spoke at 04:33, Russell at 06:44, and Darnton at 07:53. The group hopes their concert will raise awareness about the environmental damage caused by deep-sea mining and inspire action to protect marine life.
