River Otters Mate on Land and in Water, Port Townsend, WA

Buy video

While enjoying an iced coffee on one of the first very sunny days of Spring, I spotted these two river otters mating, first on land, then in the water, then (as seen in this video) as they transitioned back to land. River Otters are pretty common in the Victorian seaport Port Townsend, WA in the USA. The water here is the Salish Sea. I was surprised to see how long the otters have sex. They have been at it for almost an hour and are not yet done. I think its very cute how they repeatedly flop over on their sides together.
