This grandmother will spend her 85th birthday cycling hundreds of miles across Scotland raising money for charity.

Mavis Paterson has set herself a gruelling challenge to help her cope with "unbearable grief". She'll be riding more than 1,000 miles in memory of her three children who all died within four years.

Her son Sandy died of a heart attack in 2012, her daughter Katie of viral pneumonia in 2013, and her other son Bob died in an accident in 2016. They were all in their 40s.

Paterson had previously become the oldest woman to cycle the 960 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats.
