Ten injured in 5.2 magnitude earthquake in southern China, damaging thousands of homes

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit the town of Wayao in the Longyang district of Baoshan City, Yunnan Province in southern China on May 2.

The video contains several clips of houses and animals affected by the tremors.

The earthquake caused damage to many residential buildings and basic infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, and communication facilities in the affected areas.

As of 2 pm on May 3, the earthquake had injured 10 people, with nine having been discharged from the hospital and one still under observation.

All residents in the affected areas have been relocated to safe areas and various relief and resettlement work is underway.

A total of 2,805 houses were damaged, with 37,941 people evacuated to emergency shelters and 34 temporary shelters set up to provide relief to the affected population.

The video was filmed on May 2 and provided with local media’s permission.
