A magnitude 6.3 earthquake, later upgraded to M6.5, registering an upper 6 on the Japan Meteorological Agency’s 7-point scale, shook the Noto district of Ishikawa Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast on Friday afternoon, May 5.

According to reports, 1 person died and 12 others were injured as of writing.

This video shows water sloshing in an irrigation waterway at a rice paddy field in Toyama when the quake struck.
