This was the scary moment the M6 motorway became a river during heavy downpours.

Treacherous conditions hit the North West road near Warrington in Cheshire, England on Friday 5 May afternoon as a large gloomy weather cell was spotted before the heavens opened.

The Dash Cam footage showed visibility vastly being reduced for those travelling northbound and speed slowed to 35mph on the 70mph highway.

Thousands of people have hit the road for the King's Coronation Bank Holiday weekend which is forecasted to be a mixture of sunshine and showers.
