This is the heartwarming moment a litter of kittens was rescued from a shopping mall ceiling in Bangkok.

Mall-goer Anupongsirikul Gate was waiting for a friend when she heard the baby animals mewling from above on February 23.

Worried, she called the building's security guards, who cut a small hole on the ceiling to pull out the trembling kittens.

Anupongsirikul said: 'I usually never pass by that area, but I was waiting for a friend at that time. I'm glad I was there to help rescue the kittens.'

Shopping mall staff were taking care of the litter, which have been put up for adoption at a local animal home.
