Revellers descended onto Birmingham’s Broad Street on Sunday evening for a royal afterparty as they enjoyed the hot temperatures from earlier in the day.

West Midlands Police were out in force and had to wrestle one man to the ground after he resisted arrest following an earlier incident at a nightclub.

Police also attended several other incidents early in Monday 8 May morning along the infamous strip as tempered flared.

Most revellers wore standard weekend outfits but a few still hung on to the celebrations wearing Union flag hats and King Charles III masks and big ears.

The partygoers had watched the Coronation Concert before coming out, enjoying a night of entertainment for themselves knowing that they don’t have to go to work on Bank Holiday Monday.
