An out-of-control truck plowed through vehicles waiting for the red light to change at a junction.

Shocking dashcam footage shows the orange eight-wheeler crane truck ramming through in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand on April 27.

The truck owned by the Electric Authority reportedly lost control of its brakes and crashed into cars.

Emergency workers had to pull drivers out of their smashed cars. Two drivers died in the incident while three others were injured.

Driver Pongthep who was approaching the junction when the incident happened said: ‘If I arrived a little earlier, my car could have been one of those hit.

‘This is so traumatic for everyone. I hope this serves as a reminder to do their best to stay safe while on the road.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
