A stray kitten that was stuck in a car engine for over an hour was rescued in Thailand.

Car owner Narongwit Supapa, 57, called the emergency services after hearing the creature's cries coming from under his parked vehicle in his garage in Trat province on May 5.

The volunteers initially tried to reach the kitten by lifting the car bonnet, but it only retreated further into the compartment.

They eventually had to slide under the car, using a jack to raise it before dragging out the frightened black-and-white moggie.

Footage shows the feral male kitten yowling and hissing as the rescuers pulled on its leg, with the feline even urinating on the officer's hand out of fear. It was placed inside a cage after being caught.

Narongwit said: 'I've been hearing the cat crying since yesterday evening, but I only found out today that it was stuck inside the car engine. I tried to lure it out using cat food, but when it refused to come out, I had to call rescuers since I had an appointment in the afternoon.'

The kind owner said he will adopt the kitten, which he has named Camry after the vehicle in which it was found.

He added it was the third time a kitten had been stuck in his cars, and that all of them are now living with him.
