'The water was flowing at full force!' Torrential rain floods roads in Somerset, causing misery for drivers
Photographer Gemma Bowen captures flooding in Somerset as torrential rain and thunderstorms cause flash flooding and disruption across the region.
In the video, we can see that the roads are barely passable, with deep water causing dangerous driving conditions.
Gemma describes the scene: "Driving along the A359 from the Frome direction around 5.45pm, there was a traffic jam, and we were wondering why the traffic was so bad; it started moving again only to reveal the tremendous flooding. The water was flowing at full force and several cars were stranded."
Stills on social media showed cars submerged on the A359. Flood warnings and alerts issued by the UK's Environment Agency are active across Somerset. Heavy rainfall has led to a major incident being declared and homes have been evacuated.
