A wild python wrapped itself around a chubby monitor lizard's tummy as both were stuck under a family's gate.

The reptiles were heard knocking items over in the garage as they fought each other fiercely in a duel in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 2.

But after chasing each other around the property, the creatures were locked in a stalemate when the snake swaddled the lizard's body before they both became stuck under the narrow space of a steel gate.

Footage shows the reptiles pinned under the structure in an awkward position, with neither having the upper hand in the Jurassic Park style tussle.

Rescue volunteer Kritsada Noidit said: ‘The residents told us that the snake and lizard were fighting on the street before they reached the house.'

The rescuers grabbed the snake, which loosened its grip on its opponent. Kritsada added they held both creatures on the tail so they wouldn't run under the car.

He said: ‘I held the snake's neck and its instinct was to let go of the lizard. After catching the python, we took the monitor lizard from under the gate.'

The lizard was released on the same day while the python was taken to the rescue facility before it was released.
