A huge barge set to house 500 male migrants has arrived in Falmouth, Cornwall, for inspection and refit work.

Footage from May 10 shows the huge three-storey vessel docked. Onboard the boat lies a gym, a bar, and a restaurant.

The government plans to move the barge, named Bibby Stockholm, to Portland where it'll host the migrants.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak claims the barge will save taxpayer money and reduce pressure on hotels.

However, the barge has been criticised by local groups and refugee charities who say the plans are "completely inadequate".

A new migrant accommodation plan takes shape in Falmouth Cornwall.

The Bibby Stockholm is a floating hotel for 500 people. It is advertised as having Gym, Bar and a restaurant and boasts WI-Fi throughout.

The vessel is being leased by the UK Home Office and will when ready be towed to Portland off Weymouth in Dorset.

The unusual accommodation is hoped to help alleviate the hotel costs in housing migrants who are waiting for their applications for residence to be processed.

The current number of migrants in hotel accommodation at the taxpayer expense is 51,000 with a daily cost of 6 million pounds per day.

The A&P dockyard at Falmouth specialises in this kind of work for both the UK and Foreign governments and is currently working on two naval vessels docked at the moment.

The Bibby when ready is expected to be in use for at least 18 months. Refugee groups critical on the plan claim it is totally inadequate.

The plan is heavily influenced by Home Secretary Suella Braverman and Immigration minister Robert Jenrick.

However Dorset Council and local MP's oppose the plan to moor the barge in area reliant on tourism and threaten legal action.
