A witness named Mike Curran was stopped at a traffic light when he saw an unbelievable sight: an inmate running down the street with his hands still cuffed.

Curran didn't see how the prisoner escaped custody, but he was able to shoot this short video of the surreal moment on May 10 in Utica, New York.

Mitchell J. Clark, 40, managed to run through the parking lot of the Utica Police Department and made it to Oriskany Street. The clip then shows the moment the 40-year-old was apprehended trying to get into a white SUV.

Clark had appeared at Utica City Court for criminal contempt and harassment charges. He is also being charged with escaping in the second degree.
