Dozens of dyed chicks, nicknamed "Teletubbies chickens", are being sold at a traditional market in Palembang, Indonesia.

Footage captured on May 11 shows the multi-coloured chicks being sold for around IDR 2,500 each (£0.14) according to the filmer.

They also added that the chicks are broiler chickens, bred specifically raised for meat.

PETA has a statement on the dyeing of animals: "PETA doesn't actually support dyeing or painting lobsters or any other animals. Please remember, no animal has a natural desire or need to be dyed, pierced, tattooed, mutilated, or modified in any other way to appeal to humans' aesthetic preferences."
