A skillful driver regained control of his car after hitting a sedan that suddenly switched lanes.

Dashcam footage shows the white vehicle crossing two lanes before suddenly blocking the way of an oncoming car in Samut Prakan province, Thailand, on May 6.

While both motorists apparently hit their brakes, they still collided with each other. Driver Taweesak Semaphet and his companions spun out of control, swerving along the road.

He drifted for at least 15ft away before fully stopping, preventing a horrible crash.

Taweesak said: ‘Because of his negligence, we were almost hurt. I hope he becomes more careful after that or he could put himself and others in danger again.'

No one was hurt but both cars were scratched and dented.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
