A furious wife climbed onto her husband's moving truck and shot and stabbed him after catching him voting with his mistress on election day in Thailand.

Scorned Samorn Moolleck, 61, travelled from Ayutthaya province to a polling booth in Samut Prakan around 65 miles away to confront her unfaithful husband Somkid Moollek, 63, during the general elections on May 14.

She had been told that Somkid was headed to the voting station with one of his lovers and vowed to confront him over the extra-marital affair.

However, Somkid refused to discuss the matter and sped away in his pick-up truck - only for Samorn to leap onto the cargo bed as he was driving away.

CCTV footage shows the dramatic moment the jilted wife - seen wearing a red hoodie - smashed the rear window and then fired into the truck from behind with a revolver, causing the vehicle to crash into an electric pole. The mistress allegedly reached through the opening and repeatedly stabbed her husband.

An injured Somkid fell from the driver's seat and crawled across the tarmac, with the knife-wielding Samorn giving chase. Before she could attack, bystanders intervened and reined her in as she stood over the man apparently begging for mercy on the ground.

Police officers from the Samrong Nuea district arrived to detain Samorn while Somkid was rushed to a hospital for treatment to his wounds. The injuries were not life-threatening.

The shooter allegedly told police she wanted to teach her philandering husband a lesson, coldly stating: 'It was not my intention to kill him, but I wouldn't care if he died from his injuries.'

The wife said they had been married since 1982 and that Somkid had cheated on her multiple times. She claimed he had squandered his savings on various women, and had even bought a car for one of his mistresses.

She added that they have been separated since 2019, but Somkid has not agreed to divorce her as he 'did not want to pay her'.

She said: 'I wanted to settle the issue with our marriage certificate, but he refused to cooperate. He wanted to keep the home and money and not pay me what I am entitled to.'

Upon learning that he would be going to the polling station on May 14, she travelled from Ayutthaya to see him, but was met with stubborn refusal that allegedly led to the attack.

Samorn was remanded in police custody at the Samrong Nuea police station. Officers confiscated from her a .38 revolver, five bullets, and two knives.

Cops said Samorn will be questioned on suspicion of attempted murder and violating the Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearm Act.

Police Captain Krissana Piriyavanichcha said: 'The case is a domestic dispute between the husband and wife, so we have to wait for the husband to give his evidence and see whether he wants to prosecute his wife.

'She has admitted the attack and is not repentant so she will be kept at the police station until all the charges are made against her.'
