Chaos erupts as 'walking squad' breaks through barriers in children's area in China
A group of women, known as the "walking squad," caused a stir in China, when they were caught on camera breaking through barriers and disrupting a children's activity area.
Video filmed in the city of Zhengzhou in Henan Province on May 12 shows a group of women, dressed in matching vibrant clothing, kicking over the barricades and continuing walking.
"Baozou" which means "walk squad" is a popular form of exercise among middle-aged and elderly people in China.
In recent years, some members of these walking groups have become representative figures of street culture, dressed in eye-catching costumes and accompanied by loud slogans and music to boost their morale and sense of unity.
A netizen commented on Weibo, a Twitter-like social media, saying "so embarrassed."
The video was provided by local media with permission.
