Police had the last laugh after tracking down this motorist filmed drifting while his pal gave people the finger, and he will now not only lose his licence but face numerous penalties as well.

And after being locked up for a week while police compiled a lengthy list of all his crimes, he ended up urging other people not to copy his foolish actions and to drive safely.

Footage of the driver recorded in the city of Sochi, southern Russia, shows him approaching a street intersection, passing a red light.

He proceeds to skid across the middle of the crossroad with his 'Nissan' endangering himself and other vehicles from oncoming lanes.

An unknown passenger in the vehicle emerged from the backseat window and began to show witnesses insulting gestures as the vehicle drove away.

According to the State Traffic Inspectorate, the driver was identified while the police were doing a routine observation of CCTV footage.

Police identified a 36-year-old man, a resident of Sochi who was not named during the investigation.

He was brought into police custody, charges were filed under the articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

The 'Nissan' driver acquired a lengthy booking from the police.

It included driving into an oncoming lane, driving at a red traffic light, a U-turn violation of traffic rules, driving without using seat belts, driving without a license, driving without insurance and petty hooliganism.

He was also sent to a temporary detention centre for several days due to his actions.

The driver is also awaiting a procedural decision from the court.

Police later revealed that during his detention, the 36-year-old regretted his actions, and urged other drivers to refrain from endangering road safety.
