Two kittens that sheltered from the rain inside a car engine were rescued in a family's garage.

Footage shows animal rescuers holding a torch and searching for the felines inside the white sedan in Phichit province, Thailand on April 24.

The two volunteers extracted two cats who were believed to be siblings as they were about the same age.

Rescue team member Tiwa Wongkeaw said the pair might have climbed inside the car to sleep but ended up being stuck.

He said: 'The car owner called us, they said there were cats inside their vehicle, but they could not pull them out. We did our best to help them.'

The creatures were unhurt and given food. The kind house owner also volunteered to take care of them until the cats found an adoptive family.
