This is the amusing moment cops raced to the finish line while carrying their wives on their backs in an amusing sports tournament for police in Thailand.

Footage shows the competitive officers lifting their spouses either piggyback or bridal style as they sprinted across a football field in Samut Prakan province on May 13.

Laughs were had during the wife-carrying race when some of the contestants encountered hilarious mishaps that thwarted their victory.

One cop from the Bang Pu Police Station had a wardrobe malfunction when his trousers ripped while running. Another faceplanted into the dirt with his wife when he stumbled just a few steps away from the starting line.

The officers were holding the 29th police football tournament in central Samut Prakan, with 16 police stations participating in the festivities.

Aside from football, other sports competitions were also organised, including a patrol relay, where participants, in full police gear, simulated a police chase.

The activities were meant to showcase the physical fitness of the police and build camaraderie among staff.
