This is the adorable moment a playful Asian black bear cooled off - by upside down on a tire swing while taking a shower.

Footage shows the creature named Tono sitting on a rubber wheel with its feet up in the air as its handler gave it a cool shower at the Wildlife Rescue Centre No. 1 in Nakhon Nayok province, Thailand on May 16. Temperatures outside reached 35 degrees Celsius.

Tono is an orphaned bear separated from its mum during a forest fire in 2020. Centre staff encouraged tourists to visit Tono and bring food to keep it from being lonely.

The Asian black bear is the largest bear in Thailand, with heights ranging from four to six feet. Adult males typically weigh between 100 to 200 kilograms, while females weigh between 50 to 125 kilograms.

They have rough black or brown fur on their bodies, with a light yellow V-shaped marking on their chest. When they walk, they do so fully on their feet, which have long and sharp claws.

The Asian black bear is a protected species under Thailand's Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act.

It is classified as 'vulnerable' under the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, which cites habitat loss due to human encroachment, and poaching as threats to its population.
