This is the dramatic moment an out-of-control truck crashed into a durian stall killing one person and injuring six others in Thailand.

The Isuzu pick-up carrying around five passengers was driving along the Chiang Mai- Phrao Road in Chiang Mai province when it crashed into a motorcycle on May 12.

The collision sent the truck screeching toward the roadside "Ban Suan Durian" store, where a couple was buying fruit.

CCTV footage shows the couple running away seconds before the vehicle violently smashed into the store.

Maejo police station officers arrived to inspect the scene and found a young woman, 22, dead, after being crushed against a power pole. She was an only child and a university student graduating this year.

Six others, including her seriously injured boyfriend, were wounded and rushed to a hospital.

Officers said they were waiting for the injured driver and victims to recover before proceeding with interrogations.

Store worker Piyawat, 30, said: "It all happened so quickly. We heard the pick-up crash into a motorcycle around 20 metres away. In about three seconds, the truck crashed into the store and struck the couple waiting at the counter. They flew in separate directions, but the woman was smashed against the electric pole".

Shop owner Thanawat, 31, said: "I had to close my shop for three days because of the accident. The damage is around 200,000 baht ($5,800), not including the daily income of 8,000 ($230) baht I've been losing due to the shop's closure. I hope the driver or his family take responsibility for the incident".
