Brazilian-Dutch choreographer showcases contemporary dance in South Africa
Cape Town, 19 May 2023: Anderson Carvalho, a contemporary dance choreographer who grew up in the favelas of Brazil showcased his work at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone, Cape Town. The Dance Intersect show is meant to display different forms of dance and cultural expression.
Annika Claassen, a performer and university student said she was hoping viewers would through their dance feel the emotions others are forced to feel.
Anderson Carvalho said he has been visiting South Africa and first came to South Africa to do volunteer work and says his work as a choreographer has helped him break out of the system of poverty.
The show ends on Saturday 20 November at the Joseph Stone Auditorium.
