A couple of kids learnt how to handle a snake after one was found sneaking around their home in Nashville, Tennessee.

Footage captured on May 22 shows an eastern kingsnake, a non-venomous species, being pulled from out of a box and being handed over to the curious children.

The filmer told Newsflare: "This eastern kingsnake was rescued from certain death after a terrified neighbour called for help to remove it. The snake was almost inside her house, I caught the snake by hand just as it was going into a crevice.

"This caused some commotion and the snake was temporarily caged for relocation in a nearby wooded area. I took advantage of this opportunity to educate how to calmly hold non-venomous snakes.

"Eastern kingsnakes are very beneficial for humans because they hunt and eat snakes that are venomous and dangerous to have around homes. Snake conservation and education are important."
