A wild snake slithered across a moving car's bonnet while a couple drove home.

Footage shows the thin 3ft-long serpent moving about 10 inches away from the windshield in Phetchaburi province, Thailand, on May 18.

The driver and his wife were heard shrieking in the background as the creature explored the front part of the sedan.

Wife Khuanhathai Singkaew said the animal might have come from the market where they did a stopover during the trip.

She said: ‘We were about to come home when it poked out its head. It showed up when there was a strong breeze. Maybe the engine was getting too hot.'

Khuanhathai added the snake disappeared when they parked for a moment to let it leave.

She said: ‘I'm relieved it didn't fall while we were driving or became stuck in the engine.'
