A man named David and his 7-year-old son Ethan living in Florida, US, had a bizarre experience while on a day trip to Miami. They were strolling around a harbour when fishermen asked them if they wanted to try sticking a remora to their skin to see what it felt like.

"Naturally I had to accept!", said David. "My kid was curious to see how it felt as well".

Remoras, also called sharksuckers, are fishes known for attaching themselves to large marine animals such as sharks by a sucking disc on the top of the head.

The footage shows the moment the fisherman takes the remora out of the bait fish tank and attaches it to David's shoulder. The animal can be seen hanging from his arm.

"It's like velcro", David says in the clip before showing the fish's scaly skin.

In the video, one of the men points at the father's shoulder to show the large flushed mark left by the remora.

"It felt like a suction cup with sharp ridges on the inside. The second its head touched my skin, it reflexively stuck on", explained David. "It applied quite a bit of pressure. Slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. But super interesting. It made me appreciate how the animal also removes parasites from the skin of sharks".

It was then Ethan's turn. The fisherman can be seen laying the animal on the child's chest. The excited seven-year-old laughs as the fish hangs from his body.

"My son loved it. He is always excited to experience new adventures", said the child's father.

David explained that he is not sure what happened to the remora after they left the harbour.

"I suspect it was either eaten - remoras do have good meat on them - or used as bait", he said.

A boat with some fishermen had a remora in the bait fish tank. They asked if I wanted to have the fish stuck to my body to see what it felt like… Naturally I had to accept. And my kid was curious to see how it felt as well.
