This is the cute moment a grizzly bear mum and her two cubs ran away from oncoming cars.

Footage shows the galloping family of mammals as the vehicles slowly approached them in the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming on May 11.

The protective mother bear let her two babies be a few steps ahead of her as they followed the concrete path.

Soon after, the trio crossed to the other side and disappeared into the woods.

Driver Keith Mc Cabe who was in one of the cars, said: ‘Her cubs were very curious. They were probably among the first grizzly cubs born out of hibernating this season at Yellowstone.'

Conservationists say that grizzly bears are an important part of the Yellowstone ecosystem and help to keep populations of other animals in check.

They are known for having distinctive humped shoulders and grizzled furs.
