A television producer using his mobile phone while driving his Aston Martin through central London was also caught on camera giving a cyclist the finger.

Jimmy Mulville, a 68-year-old writer and comedian, was convicted on Thursday, May 25 of using a handheld mobile phone on July 29, 2022 on Battersea Bridge Road while driving his silver V12 Aston Martin Rapide. He received six penalty points and was ordered to pay around £2,025 in costs.

Mulville had reportedly said he was reading texts during a family emergency.

Mulville has received a BAFTA for his creative contribution to television and founded Hat Trick Productions, whose hit shows include "Father Ted"
and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"

Cyclist Mike van Erp told local media: “I always run a GoPro camera while I'm cycling and he was typing with both hands on the phone and the screen was lit up.”

Footage shows the YouTuber known as Cycling Mikey notice the Aston Martin's delayed start.

He then pulls up alongside the vehicle and notices the driver using his phone whilst crossing Battersea Bridge, London.

The driver then sticks up a middle finger to van Erp before continuing to use his phone before driving off across the bridge.

In April 2021 van Erp filmed ex-England footballer Frank Lampard using his phone at the wheel of his car. The charges were dropped.
