Crocodile farm boss eaten alive by 40 of his own animals when he slips into enclosure
A crocodile farm boss in Cambodia was eaten alive by 40 of his own animals when he slipped into their enclosure this morning.
Luan Nam, 72, was trying to move one of the beasts from a cage where it had laid eggs when it snapped at the pole he was using and dragged him into the pit in Siem Reap.
Dozens of the hungry reptiles pounced on the owner as he screamed for help. However, they quickly tore him to pieces before he was found dead at his family's farm.
Video shows the ravenous crocs paddling through a pool of blood moments after killing the old man, who was also president of the country's Crocodile Association.
The devastated family collapsed in tears as colleagues pulled Nam's corpse out of the farm in scenes some viewers may find distressing. His body was taken into the family home.
Authorities said one of Luan's arms and a leg had been bitten off and swallowed by the animals. There were also deep bite marks across his body.
Siem Reap police chief Mev Savry said: 'While he was chasing a crocodile out of an egg-laying cage, the crocodile attacked the stick, causing him to fall into the enclosure.
'Then other crocodiles pounced, attacking him until he was dead.'
The official added that a girl, 2, had also died in the same village in 2019 when she wandered into her family's crocodile farm.
The animals were being bred for their valuable skins which are used by many designer labels in handbags and shoes. The meat is also sold afterwards for human consumption.
